Car insurance company discriminate against me because I was not born in the UK?

I had a quote for car insurance through a well-known national company. They were aware I had a UK licence for 5 years and had no convictions, claims etc. I rang and spoke to a representative and she confirmed the quote. The following day I decided to accept and called them. We went through my information and the agent said, so you were born in the UK? I said no, I am a UK citizen but I was born abroad. The quote then went up by 200 !!!! I took issue and spoke to a manger who said this was legitimate when I told him I was certain it was illegal since the only information that had changed was my place of birth, he eventually said he would honour the original quote. I then bought the policy with a one-off payment. Insurance is a racket and I don't think they should be alllowed to get by with this. Does anyone know anything about this and what can be done next to make sure it doesn't happen to other people?

Company Car - Insurance - Accident.?

Well, driving home last night from a club with my friends. Almost finished dropping my friends off we go through a puddle, me not knowing how high it really is so I assumed it was only little. How can I get coverage at a decent rate when I have a crappy driving record?? Ive called about 4 different companies, the lowest rate i found was $209 a month for 6 months. I have 7 points on my record currently!! I cannot get insurance through my parents and i am not married so basically I'm screwed...or I should look into paying a driver to cart my butt around.

i got into a car accident 4weeks ago. the person begged me not to call her insurance company n said she'd pay for everything. after i got my estimate then she decided not to pay b/c its about 4000. it took her 2weeks to decide. i already talked to both of my insurance company n her insurance company. it wasn't my fault, and i have a witness. i don't want to use my insurance b/c i have to pay 1000 deductible and i'm not sure if i can get it back, and why should i if it was that person's fault. her insurance company said i should just use my insurance, and my insurance company said it'd be easier to use her insurance. what should i do? should i just wait? b/c i really don't want to pay a 1000 dollars.
